Autism Acceptance in Action: How Decades Helps Enhance Support for Neurodiversity

Autism Acceptance in Action

In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, Decades Construction Group extends heartfelt appreciation to organizations within the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) community, such as Bancroft, that provide invaluable resources and support to individuals with autism and other developmental challenges. Bancroft, a leading regional nonprofit, offers a comprehensive range of services—including special education, vocational training, supported employment, structured day programs, residential treatment, community living programs, and behavioral supports—aimed at unlocking the full potential of each person and addressing their evolving needs throughout different life stages.

Recently, we were honored to collaborate with Bancroft to create a state-of-the-art sensory room at their Gloucester Adult Day & Employment Program in Swedesboro, NJ. This thoughtfully designed space provides controlled sensory experiences, such as specialized lighting, textures, sounds, and scents, to support individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. The sensory room is equipped with various tools designed to enhance relaxation and engagement, offering a sanctuary for individuals to reset and regulate their sensory inputs.

At Decades, our mission is to create environments that empower organizations to operate efficiently and serve individuals with care and excellence. We specialize in providing tailored maintenance solutions that help organizations proactively manage their facilities, ensuring seamless operations and long-term value. By adopting a planned maintenance approach, we assist our partners in maximizing efficiency and protecting their bottom line.

This Autism Acceptance Month, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering inclusive spaces that celebrate neurodiversity and promote acceptance for all. We recognize the critical role that organizations like Bancroft play in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we are dedicated to supporting their efforts through our expertise in construction and maintenance solutions. Together, we can create environments that not only meet the unique needs of individuals with autism but also enrich their lives and empower them to thrive.
